The context
The power supply at the main switchboard of a commercial site was recorded for almost seven days, capturing both continuous parameters and fast events.
CASE STUDY
Distinguish normal supply conditions from occasional events before attributing equipment malfunction to the power supply.
The power supply at the main switchboard of a commercial site was recorded for almost seven days, capturing both continuous parameters and fast events.
Voltage, frequency, unbalance, flicker and harmonics were largely within the adopted reference limits. The recording also captured occasional fast events, which require separate assessment from continuous indicators.
Events counted by the instrument do not, on their own, demonstrate a persistent issue or a link to equipment malfunction. Their severity, classification and context must be interpreted together.
NEXT STEPS
Assessing a possible link with malfunctions requires comparing event timestamps with equipment logs and, if needed, recording closer to the load.
Existing measurements, drawings or proposals are also useful.
